NPR Market Update

The Nepalese rupee (NPR) has been relatively stable against the US dollar, trading around 0.006513, which is about 2.3% below its three-month average. Recently, the NPR/USD exchange rate has stayed within a narrow range, reflecting cautious market sentiment.
The US dollar’s recent movements have been influenced by mixed global factors. While safe-haven demand supported the USD earlier, downside pressure emerged after US GDP growth data showed a slower-than-expected expansion in the first quarter. With limited US data coming up, investor focus could shift toward geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, especially as US-Iran relations remain tense, potentially supporting the USD if risks escalate.
Meanwhile, the NPR has seen minor declines against other currencies. The rupee is also slightly weaker against the euro, yen, and Australian dollar, trading near seven-day lows. These shifts reflect broader market caution amid geopolitical uncertainties and global economic factors. Still, the stability against the dollar suggests ongoing cautiousness among investors, with no major directional moves so far.
