The Nepalese Rupee (NPR) has traded near 7-day highs against the US dollar, reaching around 0.006725. This marks a slight decline of about 1.5% from its 3-month average of 0.006826. The market has seen relatively stable movements in recent days, with the NPR/USD range remaining within a tight 5.8% band from 0.006571 to 0.006953.
US dollar strength continues to be underpinned by ongoing geopolitical tensions and risk-off sentiment, particularly due to conflicts in the Middle East. These factors support the dollar, despite some softening in global growth expectations and energy markets. As a result, the dollar remains a preferred safety asset for traders, keeping the NPR under slight pressure.
In addition, recent political instability and protests in Nepal, along with economic uncertainties stemming from decisions such as the lifting of restrictions on Indian high-denomination notes, contribute to the local currency’s modest fluctuations. These developments highlight the cautious environment for the NPR, which is currently trading close to its recent high points against major currencies.
While the NPR remains relatively stable against the US dollar, traders should watch geopolitical developments and Nepal’s economic policies, as these could influence future currency movements.
