The Nepalese Rupee (NPR) remains in a stable range against the US dollar this week, trading near 0.006632, a 30-day high just above its three-month average. The currency has moved within a narrow 4.9% range from 0.006456 to 0.006774, reflecting a relatively steady trend.
Recent developments in Nepal have added some backdrop stress. The country's foreign exchange reserves continue to grow, driven by high remittance inflows, but political unrest and protests remain a concern. Notably, protests in September led to government changes, and ongoing unrest over education reforms has kept economic activity somewhat uncertain.
Meanwhile, the US dollar is slightly softer on the back of easing risk sentiment, partly due to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has helped lower energy prices. However, the dollar remains resilient amid geopolitical tensions and expectations of sustained higher interest rates from the US Federal Reserve.
Overall, the NPR’s current stability against the dollar reflects these mixed factors. While political and economic uncertainties in Nepal persist, the currency continues to trade within a stable range, with no significant sharp movements expected in the short term.
