NPR Market Update

The Nepalese Rupee (NPR) is currently near 7-day highs against the US dollar, around 0.006604, which is about 2.2% below its recent 3-month average. Despite this uptick, the NPR remains within a stable trading range from 0.006560 to 0.006920.
The US dollar saw a significant decline last month, dropping nearly 1.9%, as optimism around the US-Iran peace talks encouraged investors to favor riskier assets over safe havens like the dollar. This shift has had a broader impact on emerging market currencies, including the NPR.
In Nepal, recent political protests and economic uncertainties—such as the lifting of the Indian high-denomination currency ban and protests over educational reforms—have added to market fluctuations. However, these factors seem to play a smaller role in the current USD-NPR dynamics compared to global dollar movements.
For now, the NPR is relatively stable against the dollar, mirroring the recent US dollar weakness. Traders should keep an eye on geopolitical developments in the Middle East and US Federal Reserve signals, as both could influence future USD strength and, consequently, the NPR’s exchange rate.
