    Rabobank transfer exchange-rate margins

Rabobank says the currency-conversion margin for a World Payment is included in the exchange rate. Its consumer information currently groups supported currencies into three published margin bands:

    Published marginCurrencies
0.86%USD, GBP, SEK, CHF, DKK, PLN, CAD, NOK, JPY, AUD, ZAR, SGD, CZK, RON, NZD, HKD, HUF, TRY, ILS
1.10%AED, MXN, CNY, MAD, SAR, BHD, KWD, TND, XCG
    2.25%THB, INR, IDR, KES

BER independently measures the difference between Rabobank's published customer rate and a current market mid-rate. That measured difference may not exactly match the bank's stated margin because the reference rates and observation times can differ.

The exchange-rate margin is only one part of the transfer cost. Include any separate Rabobank payment charge and any correspondent or recipient-bank deductions when comparing the final amount delivered.

    Rabobank foreign-currency transfer questions

Which Rabobank rate applies when I send euros?

When a transfer is funded from a euro account and converted into foreign currency, Rabobank labels the applicable customer rate Aankoop. BER displays this as the outbound transfer rate.

Which rate applies when foreign currency arrives in my euro account?

Rabobank labels the customer rate for converting an incoming foreign-currency payment into euros Verkoop. BER displays this as the inbound transfer rate.

Is the Middenkoers the rate I receive?

No. Middenkoers is Rabobank's published mid-rate reference. The customer transfer rates are Aankoop and Verkoop, which include the bank's currency-conversion margin.

    Are Rabobank's published rates guaranteed?

No. Rabobank says its transfer rates are indicative and normally published each business day at about 9am. The exchange rate at the time the transaction is processed may be different.

Do these rates apply to card spending or cash withdrawals?

No. Rabobank uses separate card-network reference rates and different margins for debit-card purchases, credit-card purchases and cash withdrawals. BER's Rabobank table covers consumer foreign-currency bank transfers only.

Can every listed currency be converted in both directions?

Not always. Rabobank's current publication does not provide an inbound Verkoop rate for XCG, INR, IDR or KES. BER omits an inbound rate when Rabobank marks that direction as unavailable.

What is the Rabobank Send Money conversion rate for EUR to KES?

The Rabobank EUR to KES exchange rate is 146.03. This is -2.2% compared to the latest EUR-KES mid-market rate 149.31.

As exchange rates can vary significantly between banks and also between currency exchange providers, it's therefore important to carefully compare euro (EUR) to Kenyan shilling (KES) rates from different sources before making a conversion.

The above Rabobank - Euro to Hilling comparison table makes it easy to compare the Total Fees (both variable and fixed) you are being charged by Rabobank and other foreign exchange providers against the latest EUR-KES mid-rate and the possible savings of using various providers.
