National Bank CAD transfer questions

How are the National Bank rates presented?

The source table shows the Canadian-dollar value of one unit of each foreign currency. BER converts the bank-sells quote into foreign currency per CAD for outbound comparisons.

How does BER show an incoming conversion to Canadian dollars?

BER uses National Bank's bank-buys quote and converts it to the reciprocal direction used in the comparison table. If the bank does not publish a buy quote, BER does not invent an inbound rate.

Are the rates guaranteed?

No. National Bank describes the table as indicative. The exchange rate for an online transfer or branch wire is calculated when the transaction is prepared.

Why might some currencies lack an inbound rate?

National Bank's current non-cash publication does not show a valid bank-buys quote for every listed currency. BER keeps the published outbound coverage but omits an unavailable reverse direction.

What fees apply?

The bank lists CAD 5.95 for its online Mastercard and Interac international transfer. Branch SWIFT wires use a percentage commission with minimum and maximum amounts plus a transmission fee. Other banks may also deduct charges.
